Gene ‘Elvis’ Vigil, 1952-2007

Gene Steven Vigil, a former longtime local who also was known as “Elvis,” died unexpectedly in his Denver home. He was 54.
Vigil was born on April 13, 1952, in Gilman to Don Vigil and Mary O. Martinez. He was raised in Red Cliff.
Vigil played guitar and piano, enjoyed oldies and Spanish music, and dancing, friends and family members said.
He had lived in Pueblo, but moved to Denver six years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Katie Barela, Marie Fernandez and Loretta Guerin; and brother Raymond “Smokey” Vigil.
He is survived by his daughter, April Jaramillo of Avon; sisters Betty (Abdion) Gallegos of Aurora, Priscilla (Alfred) Hernandez of Colorado Springs, Emma Vigil of Pueblo, and Lillian Bobian (Dave) of Denver; brothers Joe Vigil of Miguel, Nev., Frank Vigil of Denver, Robert Vigil of Pueblo and Phillip (Shelley) Vigil of Denver; granddaughters Sherice and Mariah Jaramillo; grandson Danny DeHerrera; an numerous nieces of nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Minturn Town Hall.
