George Salazar, longtime Minturn resident, has died
Longtime Minturn resident George “Pepe” E. Salazar, 75, passed away on Thursday in Eagle Nest, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Clara Salazar; grandson Darren Salazar; great-grandson Aries Valdez, and his parents, Eliseo and Clara Salazar.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Salazar; and his children, Lucille Carabajal (Luis), of Minturn; Arnold Salazar, of Eagle Nest, Ruby Serna (Mike), of Parachute, Joanne Salazar (Joe), of Rodarte, N.M., Mike Salazar (Arlene), of Leadville, George Salazar, of Beverly, Kan., Darlene Lovato (Mike), of Minturn, Frank Salazar (Cathi), of Beverly, Kan., Robert Salazar (Beverly), of Gypsum, Isabel Romero (Eugene), of Leadville, and Kimberly Renteria (David), of Parachute, CO.
He also is survived by his 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers Cora Salazar (Rocky), of Minturn, Rumi Medina (Fdemin) of Penasco, Ernesto Salazar (Reva), of Espanola, N.M., Floyd Salazar (Florence), of Whitewater, Colo.; Tia Ruth; and many other relatives.
Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rivera Chapel in Taos, N.M. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m., at Dixon Presbyterian Church.
