Jacob Brock, a former Eagle Valley resident, died in a car accident March 23. He was 19.
Brock was born Nov. 23, 1987, in Arvada. He graduated in 2006 from Eagle Valley High School and was a student at Mesa State College. He loved red, family members said, and his nicknames included Jake the Snake, Jaker Shaker, Red Speed, Carrot Top, Roho, No Brow, Fire, and Whitie. He loved soccer, hockey, track, snowboarding and just “hanging out” and had a “go get it” attitude, family members said.
Brock is survived by his mother, Marilyn; his father, Vern; his sister, Kathryn; and his brother, Weston. Other survivors include grandparents Kathryn Hubbard and Vern and Nola Brock; aunts and uncles Russell and Elaine Hubbard, Carmen and Herb Jostes, Trish and John Perry, Janie and Ray Reed, David and Jane Hubbard, Jeanne Hubbard, Alan and Mary Brock, Morgan and Noreen Lee, and Brian and Sheryl Brock; and 24 cousins.
Brock was preceded in death by grandfather George Hubbard, great-grandmother Marian Brock, great-grandfather Frank Brock, great-uncle Bob Brock and three cousins.
A rosary will be said and viewing held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 215 Capitol St. in Eagle. A funeral Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Eagle Valley High School auditorium at 0641 Valley Road in Gypsum. There will be a viewing prior to Mass from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Graveside services follow at Sunset View Cemetery at Sixth and Howard streets in Eagle. Dinner and a time of remembrance will follow.
