Jake Kochera, of Eagle, 1940-2006
Joseph “Jake” Anthony Kochera died Wednesday. He was 65.
Kochera was born Aug. 18, 1940, at home in Seven Hills Village, Ohio, into a family of six children.
He served in the Navy from 1962-1965. He once gave a tour of his ship to Caroline Kennedy.
Jake married Rita (Rote) on June 30, 1962, and they had five children. The couple moved to Eagle in 1969.
In 1972 Jake started working for the town of Vail as a landscaper, irrigation specialist and parking structure maintenance supervisor.
Friends and family members said Kochera was a wonderful dad, a loving husband and an amazing friend who was the epitome of unselfishness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Helen (Palko) Kochera, and a grandson, Eric Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; children Desiree Moore, Jessica Hollis and husband Grant, Margo Huff and husband Jeff, Tish Allacher and husband Matt, Joe Kochera and wife Annie; grandchildren James, Greg, Mitchel, Mark, Jeffrey, Jared, Mariah, Jason, Sarah, Jamie and Amanda; sisters, Shirley and husband Jim Hagerty, Rita and husband Dick Salo; brothers Andrew and wife Anne, Peter and wife Sally, and Johnny; and numerous friends and co-workers.
A vigil and viewing will be held at Everett Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, with a Rosary starting at 4 p.m.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Monday, at St. Mary’s Church in Eagle.
