Joe Trevino of Avon died Friday

Joe Trevino died at home Friday, 2006 in Avon surrounded by family. He was 66 and had fought a courageous battle with cancer over the past three years, family members say. Trevino was born June 26, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas to Joe and Josie Trevino (deceased).

Family members say Trevino had a unique sense of humor and will be remembered for his zinger one-liners affectionately known as “Joe-isms.”Trevino had experience in several business careers. As a young man, he worked in the landscape and nursery industry throughout Texas. He later worked in sales and marketing in the garment business for national lines at the Dallas apparel mart. He later moved to the Colorado mountains , where he started two more businesses: Clear Water Spa and annual Christmas tree lots for the last 8 years.

He was an avid skier and told his doctors many times that he needed to get well so he could get back on the mountain again, family members say. His family extends their heartfelt thanks to the many wonderful friends who stood by him throughout his illness. Joe will be greatly missed by all that knew him. The family also wanted to thank the doctors and nurses at the Shaw Cancer Center who took care of Trevino during his illnessTrevino is survived by his four children: Michelle Reynolds, Jeff Trevino, Mark Trevino and Joseph Trevino; by his son- and daughters-in-law, Martin Reynolds, Valerie Trevino and Julie Trevino; four grandchildren: Marcie, Ashley, Jacob and John Trevino; brother Anthony Trevino; nieces Cathy Gunn, Veronica Lindsey and Debra Lopez; and nephew Anthony Trevino.
