Joseph Elmer Rodriguez, 1947-2011

Joseph Elmer Rodriguez passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Nov. 5. He was known by his family as a very generous, giving person. He was always concerned about what everyone else needed.

Dad was a strong man, spoke his mind, was true to his word and never backed down against anything. He was a hard worker and enjoyed the good things in life. He loved getting wood and making a fire in his wood stove.

Elmer was born and raised in Gilman where he had many fond memories of growing up with his siblings. He loved the mountains, fishing, hunting and playing cards with his friends – betting on, well, almost anything.

He had a quick sense of humor and a nickname for everyone. He found the humor in himself and others. There’s probably not a person who was friends with him that doesn’t have a special memory of him. He was truly one of a kind.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Fabian and Della, his son Jacob and brother Frank. He is survived by his wife Rita, daughter Jennie, sons Michael and Elmer Jr., sisters Ruby Medina, Cynthia (Terry) Hollingsworth, Donna (Albert) Sisneros, Maria Rodriguez, brothers Anthony (Celia), Fabian and Steve Rodriguez, grandchildren Jason, Cory, Michael and Michelle and numerous nieces and nephews.
