Kenny Smith, 45, dies in Wolcott

Kenneth L. Smith died Sunday in his home in Wolcott. He was 45.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the United Methodist Church in Gypsum, 0118 Eagle St., in Gypsum. Pastor Pete Meese will officiate.

Visitation is 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs.

Smith was born July 28, 1958, in Junction City, Kansas, to parents Kenneth L. Smith Sr. and Winifred Jean Bell-Smith.

Smith was married Aug. 10, 1997, to Teresa Marie Ihlanfeldt of Wolcott. The couple was married in Garfield County.

He is survived by sons Paul Kenneth, 5, and David Michael, 20 months; daughter Robin Thomason of Grand Junction; grandchildren Authumn Garner and Shaun Thomason of Grand Junction; brother Clifford G. Smith (Kathy) of Gypsum; nephews Kenny Ramierez of Las Vegas; sister Kathy Ramierez (Rick) of Las Vegas; and neices Rebecca Jean Rademacher (Jason) of Gypsum; Christina Ramierez of La Vegas, and Jessie Ramierez of Las Vegas.

Smith lived in the area for eight years. He was employed as an electrician with D. Jenses electric. Smith served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army. He was involved with the Boys Scouts Park of Life, Aurora Horsemens Association, and the International Electrical Association.

The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, donations ca be made at any Alpine Bank in the name of his sons, Paul and David Smith.
