Kimberley Matthews of Eagle, 1963-2005
Kimberley K. Matthews of Eagle died Thursday at Vail Valley Medical Center. She was 42.Born Jan. 17, 1963, Matthews was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many capacities and working closely with young women at the church. Matthews also was director of sales at SteamMaster in Minturn. Friends and family members say she loved the Colorado mountains and being in the outdoors. They say she will always be remembered for her warm smile, cheerful disposition and dedication to whatever task she undertook.
She dearly loved her family and friends and was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and sister, and she leaves a legacy of faithful perseverance to those who knew and loved her, friends and family members say. Matthews graduated from Lewis-Palmer High School in Monument, Colo. in 1981, and then attended Utah State University in Logan, where she met and married Larry Matthews in 1986.Matthew is survived by her husband, Larry; their four children: Megan, Bryan, Melodey and McKensey; by her parents, Floyd G. and LaVonne Davis of Monument; brother Gregg Davis of Monument; sisters Nancy Kearns of Draper, Utah, and Christine Eppley of Flower Mound, Texas; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday in the Gypsum Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 0934 Gypsum Creek Rd. Viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Saturday. Matthews will be buried in the cemetery in Eagle.In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to a memorial fund for Matthews’ children. Donations can be sent to the Kimberley Matthews Memorial Fund at any First Bank branch.
