Local businesswoman Maxine Miller passes away

Maxine “Max” Miller died Tuesday after a fight with cancer that friends and family members described as “gallant.” She was 64. Miller was born on May 18, 1940 in Beeville, Texas.

She graduated from Texas Christian University magna cum laude and later graduated from Loyola University Law School in the top of her class.Friends and family members described Miller as “an incredible, a successful” businesswoman, an outstanding athlete, a mentor and a “gracious lady who enjoyed family and friends and life to its fullest.”Miller is survived by her son, Dax; her mother, Martha Hutka; sister, Joyce; the Chupik and Hutka families; and the friends helped her over the last three years. A service in celebration of her life will be held at the Vail InterFaith Chapel at 3 p.m., Oct. 11.
