Memorial for Chelsea Gaetke Friday

She was 19.

Chelsea was born the daughter of Teresa Bond Hoffman and Brian Gaetke on Dec. 9, 1982, in Lodi, Calif. She spent the first eight years of her life in Lodi, moving to Colorado at the age of 10.

She attended Crowley County High School in Ordway, then Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum for two years.

Family members and friends said Chelsea was a free spirit who enjoyed life and having fun with her family and friends. They said she was a very special daughter, sister, aunt and niece, that she had a tender and sensitive heart, and that her two Scottish terriers were always glad to see her.

Survivors include: father Brian Gaetka of Los Angeles, Calif.; mother Teresa Hoffman and Rick Turgeon of Gypsum; maternal grandfather Gilbert Bond of New Mexico; paternal grandparents Gene and Mary Jayne Gaither of Lodi, Calif.; great-grandmother Dorothy Murray of Douglas, Wyo.; sisters Tiffany Gaetke and here boyfriend Scott Benson of Gypsum, and Courtney Turgeon of Gypsum; brother Breck Gaetke of Salt Lake City; nephew Hoyt Benson of Gypsum; and several aunts, uncles and friends.

Memorial services are scheduled for noon Friday at First Lutheran Church of Gypsum. Visitation is today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of Gypsum. Interment is at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum following the services.

A memorial fund in Chelsea’s memory has been established at 1st Bank of Avon, P.O. Box 5270, Avon, CO, 81620.
