Memorial: Naomi S. Pirog, 1926-2011
Naomi Pirog passed away peacefully Aug. 26. She was 85.
Born March 5, 1926, Naomi lived in Aurora with her husband of 66 years, Louis. She and Lou were frequent visitors to Vail, enjoying the beauty of our valley, the aspens in September, fishing, golf and, especially, family. The rhythm of her golf swing and her love of the game were a joy to watch. Her family was her passion and was always the priority in her life. She embraced her family with love, acceptance, selflessness and humor. Her love of nature, animals and the outdoors made the Vail Valley one of her favorite places to visit.
Naomi is survived by her husband, Lou; sons Rick, Tom, Jim and Mike; daughters Kathi and Cyndi; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Son and daughter-in law Rick and Terri Pirog have lived in the valley since 1977. Grandchildren Todd and Jackie were born in the Vail Valley and live here, as well.
A celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel in Centennial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whiz Kids Tutors, an organization for underprivileged children. The address is 5500 E. Yale Ave., Denver, CO 80222.
