Minturn native Melburn Trump dies

MINTURN – Minturn native Melburn Trump died Feb. 1 at his home in Aumsville, Ore. He was 86.Trump was born in Minturn Sept. 25, 1918, to Elsie J. and Earl V. Trump. He grew up and went through school in Minturn. He married Nina Ellis in 1939. The family lived in Minturn until 1959. During that time Trump worked at the Empire Zinc mine, ran a family grocery store and worked in the local timber industry.Trump took a job at the U.S. Mint in Denver in 1959, and moved the family to Littleton, where they lived until his retirement.In 1975, he and Nina moved to Aumsville, where was involved in activities including creative writing, water color painting, and gardening. He was an Oregon State University master gardener, served as president of the Aumsville Garden Club, and was locally famous for his tomatoes.Trump is survived by Nina; daughters Melba Easley, Ann Andrews and Ruth Trump of Aumsville, Sandy Conahan of Salem Ore., and Jerry Hannah of Grant Pass, Ore.; sister Pat Ginther of Salem; brothers Bob of Salem, and Earl of Snohomish, Wash.; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.Donations in Trump’s name may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice in Oregon.Vail, Colorado
