Anna Joyce Blacklock-Melchor passed away peacefully at her home in Grand Junction, Colorado, on January 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 31, 1932, in Provo, Utah, to James Leroy Mayne and Florence Emma Brereton Mayne, Joyce lived a life of faith, creativity, and devotion.
In 1933, her family moved to Eagle County, Colorado, where her father became one of the valley’s first sheep and cattle ranchers. Proud of her pioneer heritage dating back to 1853, Joyce cherished her roots and values.
A talented cosmetologist for 28 years, Joyce’s greatest passion was serving her church. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she played the piano and organ for over 50 years, enriching worship services with her music.
Joyce’s grandchildren were the light of her life. She is survived by her husband, Vitelio Melchor, children Debbi (Mark) Carlin, John (Stephanie) Evans, Jacqueline Mack, and Lisa (Mark) Schuller, as well as 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, sister Shirley, son Richard, and grandsons David and Brandon, Joyce will be remembered for her faith, creativity, and love. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at the Pear Park Ward, LDS Stake Center, located at 2881 Orchard Avenue in Grand Junction, Colorado. A visitation will take place at 10:00 A.M., followed by the service at 11:00 A.M. Dinner will be served immediately following the service. Interment will be held at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, at 3:00 P.M.
