Michael Carlton “Cal” Boyington, 53, of Los Angeles, CA, passed away peacefully this past week leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Cal was born on March 3, 1971, in Kansas City, MO. He was the son of Mike Boyington of São Paulo, Brazil, and Travis “Penny” Farrar of Little Rock, AR, and the cherished older brother of B.G. Dickey of Colorado Springs, CO.
Cal spent his formative years in Vail, CO, where he attended Battle Mountain High School, before pursuing higher education at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Driven by his dreams and a vibrant spirit, Cal later moved to Los Angeles to forge a career in the entertainment industry.
Cal was a veteran TV talent and packaging-agent most recently at Vital Artists Agency which he founded in 2020. Previously, he was an unscripted agent at ICM Partners, Head of Alternative Programming at Paradigm Talent Agency and an Executive Producer at Rebel Entertainment Partners and Manolin Entertainment. He served as an Executive Producer on Hulu’s docu-drama R5 SONS ALASKA, VH-1’s CABO, Discovery Channel’s BIBLE QUEST, HD Net’s THE BAKER BOYS and Comedy Central’s WORKAHOLICS. As an agent, he also helped package MTV’s hit THE OSBOURNES.
Known for his boundless energy, magnetic personality, and zest for life, Cal was truly the life of every party. He possessed an extraordinary ability to light up a room and bring joy to everyone he met. Those who knew Cal would attest to his unwavering passion for living each day to its fullest.
Cal’s absence will be deeply felt by his family, countless friends, and all who were fortunate enough to experience his infectious laughter and generous spirit. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact of his life will endure in the hearts of those who loved him.
