Carol Ann King, a proud fourth-generation Eagle County native and a beloved part of the Vail and Eagle communities, peacefully passed away on December 28, 2024, at the age of 75.
Born in Denver on March 12, 1949, Carol’s love for Colorado and its breathtaking landscapes began early. She grew up surrounded by the beauty of her home state and formed lifelong bonds during her time at Arapahoe High School.
Carol’s love for the mountains began early, with cherished childhood summers spent at her uncle’s ranch near McCoy, Colorado. Those formative years sparked a deep connection to the Colorado mountains, which would guide her throughout her life. In 1967, Carol moved to Vail and found her first job at The Rucksack on Bridge Street, quickly becoming a treasured part of the budding resort town.
For over 40 years, Carol poured her heart into her work at Vail Resorts, leaving a legacy of kindness, humor, and warmth. She was more than a coworker—she was a friend and a cornerstone of the valley she loved so deeply.
Carol made her home in the peaceful Lake Creek valley, where she welcomed friends and family with open arms. The serene beauty of the mountains was her sanctuary, and her love for the area was evident to all who knew her.
Carol is survived by her brothers, Richard and David Filter; sister-in-law, Karen Filter; nieces, Jessica Weaver, Erica Hearder, and Rebecca Marshall; her grand-nephew, Logan; and countless friends who will forever cherish her vibrant spirit.
