Obituary: Thomas “Tom” Thatcher
January 16, 1982 – October 9, 2025
Thomas “Tom” Alvin Thatcher, 43, passed away on the evening of October 9, 2025.
Tom was born on January 16, 1982, to James and Jodi Thatcher. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Tom enjoyed hunting, riding his horses on the Flat Tops, fishing, and helping 4-H kids — including his own — at the Eagle County Fair. Each fall, you could find him and his family gathering firewood, often close to ten cords, to keep the house warm through winter. Autumn was his favorite time of year, and every Labor Day weekend, the family could be found together on the Flat Tops near Deep Lake or Adams Lake.
This past September, Tom had the joy of going bear hunting with his son, a trip they both cherished. His daughter, a dancer, recently shared one of her dances from The Nutcracker with him — a moment he treasured.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Brittany; his children, Kevin and Kay “Tinslee”; his brother John and sister-in-law Demi and their daughters, Dynae and Evelyn Thatcher; his brother- and sister-in-law Keith and Tamara Baker and their children, Alicyn and Chandler Baker; his brother- and sister-in-law Josh and Brandy Baker and their children, Clayton, Caleb, Colby, and Cash Baker; and his father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Nanci Baker. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tom will be remembered for his classic cowboy hat, wool vest (often a Carhartt), and well-worn cowboy boots. More than that, he will be remembered as a devoted father, loving husband, loyal friend, and caring brother.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the old Anderson Camp, 7177 Colorado River Road, Gypsum, CO 81637.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you bring a letter or note sharing your fondest memory of Tom. Though his passing leaves an incredible sadness, his loved ones take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain.
