– November 3, 2024
Wyllys Leighton Pool, age 47, was tragically killed in a car accident on Sunday night, November 3, 2024. He was born June 10, 1977 in Denver, CO to Fred (Hap) Pool and Gillette Hansen. He graduated from Cushing Academy In Massachusetts, and later attended Flight Safety flight school in Florida. Wyllys met and later married Jennifer Butler Pool, who was his partner and the love of his life. They truly complimented and completed one another, sharing a life filled with love, adventure and fun. Wyllys was not only a dedicated and loving husband, but he was also an unrivaled father to their 3 beautiful children Lillian Grace (19), Molly Gillette (9) and Tyler Jeffrey (7). Wyllys spent every moment he could relishing them, teaching them and cheering them on as they navigated life. Wyllys reveled in living a life full of airplanes, music, skiing, wake surfing, off-roading, fishing, and was always finding the next fun thing. As a pilot, Wyllys traveled to countless locations, but being at home with his family was unquestionably his happiest and most important place to be. Wyllys was immediately lovable and always approachable. Friends and family were drawn to his kind and infectious, fun-loving spirit. He gave of himself and his time without restraint. If there was a project, a problem or something to be fixed, he was always the first to be called. All the while being the most humble, kind and selfless soul. Wyllys also had a knack for being an incredible “Funcle” (fun uncle). Never missing a birthday, a special event or moment to share with his nieces and nephews. He loved each of them like his own. Wyllys is survived by his wife Jennifer (Jenny); children Lilly, Molly and Tyler; mother Gillette; father Hap and stepmother Darci; brother Bouker and sister-in-law Jennifer; brother Hank and sister-in-law Sarah; step brothers Nicholas Hand and Michael Hand; mother-in-law Lillian Butler nieces and nephews Weck, Hudson, Boden, Graham, Shay, Sergio, Sariah, Chloe. This world will not be the same without Wyllys’ generous, lovable, humble, and selfless spirit, but we know God will continue to use his life to encourage and inspire us all.
