Reedie memorial set for Wednesday
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Chicago, he attended the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Texas at Austin before coming to Colorado, where he made his home in the Vail Valley.
Family and friends said Reedie loved life, literature, music, nature and animals, especially his dogs Val, Jasper, Goober and Lou. He was an avid skier, then a snowboarder, they said, and during his time here he made many cherished friends.
He is survived by his mother, Arlene Griste of Washington, D.C., and sister, Shaun Reedie of San Antonio, Tex.
A memorial will be held at Reedie’s home in Minturn at 2 p.m. Wednesday, 484 Eagle St., behind FirstBank. Parking is available on Main Street. The service will be followed by a celebration of his life at The Saloon, 146 Main Street, Minturn, beginning at 5 p.m.
Those wishing to make a donation in Doug’s memory are encouraged to do so to Vail Valley Medical Center’s Mountain Hospice, P.O. Box 40,000, Vail, CO, 81658, or the ALS Association’s Rocky Mountain Chapter at P.O. Box 7964, Boulder, CO, 80306.
