Roberta Burris of Gypsum, 1945-2004
Roberta Burris of Gypsum died Friday at her home. She was 59. Burris was born in Gilman on June 28, 1945, to Rickwell Ziemer and Maude (Woods) Ziemer. She spent her childhood in Minturn and graduated from Battle Mountain High School. She was a resident of Minturn until 1967, when she married Richard Burris on Feb. 2 and the couple moved to Gypsum.Roberta was a housewife and mother who, friends and family members say, enjoyed her children, grandchildren, car racing and reading.Burris is survived by her husband, Richard of Gypsum; son Paul Burris of Crawford, Colo.; daughter Lolene Carter and her husband, Jerry, of Golden; brothers Robert Ziemer of Canon City and Rodney Ziemer of Colorado Springs; sisters Ronita Siebert of Nebraska and Carrie Swayger of Massachusetts; grandchildren Joseph, Mea and Rock; and many friends.Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Gypsum Methodist Church with the Rev. Pete Meese officiating. Burial will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum following the service.Vail, Colorado
