Our beloved friend, Steven R. “Scrub” Dickey, 56, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away Monday in Rifle.

Scrub moved back home to Rossburg , Ohio, 18 months ago to take care of his mother. Prior to moving back to Ohio, he lived on Cooley Mesa for about 20 years. Scrub owned Mesa Painting and has painted many homes throughout the Eagle Valley. He will be missed by his many friends and family.

He was born Aug. 10, 1953. in Greenville, Ohio, son of the late Harold E. Dickey and Leona E. (Schlecty) Dickey of Rossburg, Ohio.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas E. Dickey.

Steven was a graduate of Ansonia High School had worked as a self-employed painter. He was a member of the Rossburg United Methodist Church and the Sons of the American Legion in Ansonia .

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Vera (George) Moore of Millersville, Md.; brothers Norman (Toni) Dickey of London, Ohoi, and Dennis (Rowena) Dickey of Covington, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Brock Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Ansonia American Legion, 118 Mackinaw St., Ansonia, OH 45303.
