Vail Daily obituary: Benjamin Mathew Fink, 1971-2014

Benjamin Mathew Fink passed peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 30 of natural causes.

Having just returned from Thanksgiving with the family, Ben spent the weekend skiing with friends and shopping locally. And then he was gone.

Ben was born in Missouri in 1971. The family moved around before settling in Texas. Ben moved to Austin, Texas, to study photography. This is where he got on the bike, bought a climbing harness and stated working at Sherwin Williams. The next stops were Rifle, Durango and Boulder.

Ben came to the Vail Valley 10 years ago and found home. He developed his business and was successful here. More importantly, as you know, throughout life Ben made friends. You know who you are.

A celebration of Benji Fink’s life will take place at Saddle Ridge Lodge on Beaver Creek today from 5:30 to 8 p.m. No flowers or donations — bring pictures. Ben’s wish was cremation and that his ashes be spread on Vail and Beaver Creek, specifically Stone Creek Chutes. See you on the mountain, Benji.
