Vail Daily obituary: Bruce Baca, 1956-2017

Bruce Baca, 60, of Edwards, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 17. He was born April 17, 1956, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Arthur and Alice (Sandoval) Baca. He spent his younger years in California, until moving to Colorado in 1981.

Bruce was a ski instructor, a ski patrol member and a business owner. He owned and operated Vail SNOCAT (until 2006), Baca Construction and was a property manager. He loved his dogs and his “toys” and time outdoors no matter what season. He received awards for motorcycle racing and was mechanically gifted. Bruce could most often be found at his barbecue. He was a hunter, great cook and enjoyed discussing both. He still had many more ski runs, bicycle rides, motorcycle races and visits to parents to experience. He will be greatly missed.

Bruce is survived by his parents, Art and Alice Baca of Sacramento, California; sisters Patty (Jeff) of Denver, Karen (Mike) of Sacramento; his niece; two nephews; a great-niece and great-nephew of California; former wife Susan Somerville of Colorado and his dog Pharley. There is an extended family consisting of aunts, uncles and cousins in Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, North Carolina and California.

A private service will be held in Sacramento. The family would like to thank all of the neighbors and friends who reached out to Bruce. We are forever indebted to your kindness and concern. Please visit http://www.kent to leave a condolence or remembrance of Bruce for his family.
