Vail Daily obituary: Dan J. Cady

Dan J. Cady, 72, of Centennial, and one of the original professional ski patrolman at Vail for the opening season, passed away Sunday. His wife, Marla, and son, Tanner, were at his side. Born in Longmont but raised in Salida by his parents, Jack and Jerry, he loved the mountains. Dan enjoyed a long 30-year aviation career as a commercial pilot. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for golf, snow skiing, hiking and sailing. He is survived by his wife and son and sister, Christine Johnson, with extended family and friends. Memorial service to be held at Horan & McConaty, Centennial, on Thursday at 2 p.m. Say a prayer for him when you ski Cady’s Cafe at mid-Vail. He was honored to have a piece of history in Vail and on Vail Mountain.
