Vail Daily obituary: Daniel Ryan, 1965-2015
Danny was the son of Gerard and Barbara Ryan, of Bellport, New York. He was the oldest brother of Jim Ryan, Ellen McInerney and Katie Brandi. He was the beloved uncle of 13.
He grew up in Bellport and graduated from Bellport High School in 1983 and received his bachelor’s degree from Providence College in 1987. Danny earned an associate degree in finance from Adelphi University, and he worked in the insurance industry after graduation.
He moved to Vail in 1996 to pursue his love of the outdoors and worked many jobs: in the service industry, as a carpenter and as a massage therapist. He was an avid skier and snowboarder. Danny had the ability to make friends easily. Everyone he met became dear to him.
Danny was a good Catholic man who loved his faith, his family and his friends in such an extraordinary way. He used every gift and talent he had for the good of others and sacrificed deeply and constantly for those around him. He did everything all-out, to the very best of his considerable abilities. May God rest his soul. We, the brokenhearted, are all better for knowing him.
Dan’s family will be in town this weekend for a Catholic mass at St. Patrick’s in Minturn. Mass is on Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon. There will be a memorial/celebration/Irish wake at the Saloon in Minturn following the service (noon-5 p.m.).
