Vail Daily obituary: Don Pressley, 1936-2015
Don Pressley, longtime valley resident, went to his eternal home and into the arms of our Lord on May 19.
Don was born Nov. 25, 1936, and was 78 years old. Don came to Vail in the ’60s to build the Clock Tower for John McBride and decided to stay and raise his family here. He formed Carpentry Unlimited with Carl Dietz and was a builder and developer until he retired in 2000.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald, in 1997; his son Del in 2010; and his mother, Maxie, in 2014. Don leaves behind his wife Dee Ann of 58 years of marriage; four daughters, Debra Harris (Randy), Dawn Chadwick (Chuck), Devona Walter and Dodi Kayser (Michael); 13 grandchildren, Tai Hughes (BJ), Jamie Chadwick, Beau Chadwick, Jessie Chadwick, Dawn Deann Olmesdahl (Trey), Stephanie Dunsdon (Trevor), Tiffany Carter, Fawn Carter, Willis Walter, Gracie Kayser, Benjamin Kayser, Matthew Kayser and Janell Pressley; nine great-grandchildren, Xavier, Sebastian and Lucian Barthel, Elijah Dunsdon, Karizma and Gabriel Gustin, Camden and Bodee Hughes and Savannah Chadwick. Don also leaves behind his brothers John and Ronald (Spike) and his sister Margaret.
Don was a hardworking, honest boss who worked alongside his crew. Don was known as the half day-boss; if you could not keep up with him, then he would hand you a paycheck at noon with a smile. Don was happiest with his family and friends and tinkering on his car collection. Don always had a story and a big smile.
A memorial honoring his life will be held July 11 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Chapel in Edwards. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tanalian Leadership Ministry Center and Home in Alaska. Donations may be sent to Calvary Chapel, P.O. Box 979, Avon, CO 81620.
