Vail Daily obituary: Mary ‘Margo’ Margaret Peter, 1945-2016
Mary “Margo” Margaret Peter died June 3 at her home in Rockville, Maryland.
Margo was born in Ithaca, New York, to parents Frank and Mary (Strok) Peter. She lived in Ithaca as a child and attended high school at Walsingham Academy in Virginia. She moved to Vail in the early 1970s and lived there until she retired to Longmont in 2007. In 2015, she moved to Rockville, Maryland.
Upon moving to Vail, Margo was hired by Vail Associates and was eventually promoted to be the manager of the ticket office. In the early 1980s, Margo left the ticket office and started a home daycare. Margo ran her home daycare until 2007.
In 1990, Margo helped start Mountain Hospice in Vail and she continued to volunteer with the hospice program until 2007.
Margo was actively involved in St. Patrick’s Parish and served on the Parish Council for many years. She also volunteered annually with the rummage sale in Minturn.
While living in Longmont, Margo was a dedicated volunteer at the Longmont United Hospital. She was also a member of St. John the Baptist Parish.
Margo was a selfless, kind and compassionate woman who loved spending time with her family and friends.
Margo is survived by her children Matthew Sargent and his wife, Hillary; and Emily (Sargent) Chesterton and her husband, Stephen. She is also survived by three grandchildren.
A Catholic Mass and memorial service will be held in Ithaca, New York, in 2017. For more information please contact the family at firstname.lastname@example.org.
