Vail Daily obituary: Richard L. Bollman, 1944-2015

Richard Leroy Bollman died after a year-long battle with cancer on Feb. 11 in the Vail Valley Medical Center. He was 70 years old.

He was born Aug. 15, 1944, in Orange, California, the son of Bettie Bostic Bollman and Stanley L. Bollman. He grew up in Chino, California, and graduated from Chino High School in 1963. He spent 30 years living in Colorado, seven of which was in the Vail Valley. Richard was a noble spirit, a great friend and a wonderful husband.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley; mother, Bettie; stepfather, Jack Conners; and first wife, Judy Lyons Bollman.

Richard is survived by his wife, Graciela Bollman, of Eagle; by his daughters, Glenna Gowin, of Trinidad, and Pamela Simmons (Steve), of Colorado Springs; step-children Sofia Shimabukuro (Rafo), of Lima, Peru, and Ricardo Shimabukuro, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.; and his two sisters, Sharon Mickey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Beverly Harris of Garland, Texas. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Brian, Andrew, Michael and Nicolas Gowin, and Kyle, Madison and Chase Simmons; two step-granddaughters, Constanza and Lucia; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Andilee and Brooke Gowin. He also left behind his two beloved two doggies, Sami and Blackie.

A memorial service will been held in the spring at the Memorial Park in Vail.
