Obituary: David Florencio Mondragon, Oct. 31, 1987 – April 26, 2019
David Florencio Mondragon, 31, of Gypsum, Colorado, passed away on April 26, 2019, in Durango, Colorado. He was born on October 31, 1987, in Salida, Colorado, to Florencio Mondragon Jr., and Angie Mondragon.
David graduated from Escoffier Culinary School in 2011, with ambitions to open his own restaurant with his best friend, Pedro Jimenez. He loved cooking, spending time with family, shed hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, off-roading, and anything that the outdoors had to offer.
David is survived by his wife, Baby Lucille Mondragon, sons Dregan Mondragon, and Javier Viloria (stepson); his parents Florencio Mondragon Jr., Angie Mondragon, Jerry Velasquez (stepfather); sisters Heather Mondragon, Bryanna Sandoval, Samantha Velasquez (stepsister); brothers Eddie Velasquez (stepbrother), Gabriel Velasquez (stepbrother), grandparents Sadie Mondragon, Dorothy and Juan Mandonado; uncle Gerald Mandonado, aunts Tammy (Pat) Romero, and Louann Sanchez.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Florencio Mondragon Sr, uncle Amos Mondragon, and grandmother Angela Russ.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019, from 2-5 p.m. at the Gypsum Creek Golf Course Club House and Grill in Gypsum, Colorado.
