Obituary: John Mark (Mac) McCain, July 13, 1964 – Sept. 3, 2019
John Mark “Mac” McCain was born July 13, 1964, in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of Rev. Carl Ray McCain and Jackie Lowman McCain. He passed on Sept. 3, 2019.
Mac is succeeded by his daughter, Morgan Rae McCain, and step-daughter, Nicole Joli, of Eugene Oregon; four sisters: Becky Ray McCain of Littleton, Colorado, Carol Cochran of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kay Weishaar of Perry, Iowa, and Anne McCain-Plungis of Littleton, Colorado; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Mac graduated from Lakewood High School (Colorado) in 1982 and attended the University of Northern Colorado where he studied music theory and classical guitar.
Mac was a gifted vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. He sang and played guitar professionally in the Denver area in the 1980s and in the Vail Valley for the rest of his adult life. He recorded CDs of his original music.
Mac was known for his beautiful voice, his kindness, his wit, his generous spirit and his love of music. He loved his family and friends very much, and he loved living in the Vail Valley. He is greatly missed.
Greg Sparhawk, along with partner Jim Comerford, have proposed a large development of fairly small homes for the north side of Minturn, near the town’s railroad yards. The partners are under contract with Union Pacific Railroad for the property, which is across Minturn Road — also known as County Road.
