October hotter and drier than normal

Cliff Thompson

He’s been recording weather data in Avon for the last 35 years. October’s temperatures were five degrees higher than average of 50.86.

The highest temperature was 77 on Oct. 2 and the low, 14, which occurred on Oct. 26. The average low temperature was 35.

There was only 0.58 inches of rain over the 31 days, about one-third of the normal 1.51 inch average.

“It was a very dry month,” said Doll. “It was very windy with many gusts in excess of 40 miles-per-hour.”

September’s temperature and precipitation readings were as close to average as it gets.
