EDWARDS — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to think about the disease that affects one in eight women. Eagle County is lucky to have state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment facilities in our backyard — Sonnenalp Breast Center in Edwards and Frisco provide the most sophisticated technology available in the Rocky Mountains for breast imaging and diagnosis, and the Shaw Regional Cancer Center offers comprehensive cancer care in a peaceful and intimate setting.
Dogma Athletica in The Riverwalk at Edwards has teamed up with the Shaw Center to promote health and awareness and to give back to the community. Dogma is sponsoring a yoga challenge, encouraging yogis to stretch, sweat and decompress — not only to benefit their own well being, but to give back to those in need.
For each yoga class attended, Dogma will donate 50 cents to the Shaw Center. The more classes attended, the more Dogma will donate. Dogma will also be running a few specials for the month of October to further entice yogis to come and practice. New members can get their first month at a discounted rate of $69 for a month of unlimited yoga, and everyone can take advantage of a discounted 10-yoga punch pass for $140.
In the spirit of healthy competition, Dogma will be tracking how many classes each yogi attends, and the yogis who attend the most classes in the month of October will win prizes. Dogma will also encourage yogis to wear pink throughout the month of October in the spirit of breast cancer awareness.
Do what feels good
“This program is a really nice way to take some time out and give to yourself while also giving back to the community,” said Dogma Yoga Director Chelsea Winters. “We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and this is a great way to build community support around an important cause while also feeling really good.”
Dogma Athletica translates to “a belief in the athletic process.” To promote this belief within the community, Dogma adopted the motto “Live it.” Members and visitors to Dogma can experience programs with benefits that enhance life, long after the session or class is over. Dogma offers several yoga classes each day for all abilities and body types.
