Oil spills on Roan Plateau not immediately reported
PARACHUTE, Colorado ” State records allege that Berry Petroleum Co. did not immediately report spills of drilling fluids on private lands on the Roan Plateau.
The Oil and Gas Conservation Commission records indicate the first release was in late November and was followed by two others. The Glenwood Post-Independent says they were not reported until Jan. 22, three days after the last spill.
The company says it has met with the agency to discuss remediation.
The spills affected state waters in the Garden Gulch area. The company issued a statement saying it resulted in no significant environmental damage.
