BEAVER CREEK — Beaver Creek’s 15th annual traditional Oktoberfest celebration returns with German food, dancing and live music Saturday and Sunday. Guests will enjoy authentic Bavarian food, a beer garden and free musical entertainment from headliner Aeromyth, as well as Trachtenkapelle, an oom-pah-pah band from Beaver Creek’s sister city, Lech-Zurs, Austria, along with local German icon Helmut Fricker. Kids and adults will also be able to participate in Bavarian costume contests over the weekend in their lederhosen and dirndls.

This year’s live music features the rock ‘n’ roll sounds of Aeromyth Saturday and Sunday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Taking you back to your Aerosmith concert days, Aeromyth has performed all over the United States and internationally and has been featured on “The Morning Show,” “Regis & Kelly” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Watch their performances over the weekend on the Beaver Creek Plaza stage following the live performances by Trachtenkapelle and Helmut Fricker, which start at 11 a.m. each day.

On both days, a Kids Fun Zone will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn at Centennial Park and the complimentary Culinary Demonstrations will showcase traditional Bavarian food from local chefs in the Kitchen Pavilion Tent at noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. The adult Bavarian Costume Contest will take place today at 4 p.m. on the main stage with registration from noon to 3:30 p.m. in Beaver Creek Village. The Kids European Alpenhorn Contest open registration will take place on Sunday from noon to 3:30 p.m. in the village with the contest occurring at 4 p.m. in Centennial Park.

The Oktoberfest Shuffle presented by SmartWool on Sunday provides a great way to start the day and enjoy the scenic trails on Beaver Creek. The race starts at 10 a.m. and includes a 5K, 10K and Family Fun 1K option for all ages and ability levels. Race participants will receive a gift, bratwurst and beer or non-alcoholic drink. To pre-register for the event, visit http://www.beavercreek.com/oktoberfest. Pre-registration is $35 for adults and $40 the day of the race. The pre-registration for participants ages 13-18 is $25 and $30 the day of the race. Children 12 and younger participate for free. All proceeds will benefit the Vail Valley Charitable Fund.
