EDWARDS — Millions of people follow every move that Lindsey Vonn makes, whether it is on the ski slopes, where she is one of the top skiers in the world, or on the red carpet, where her strong physique reveals the truth that beauty is not about skin and bones but about muscle and tone.

From descriptions of her Minnesota roots to the top training regimen that even non-athletes can master, Vonn’s first book, “Strong is the New Beautiful: Embrace Your Natural Beauty, Eat Clean and Harness Your Power,” is as approachable and inspirational as the woman on the cover. Vonn will meet with fans and sign books today at 6 p.m. at The Bookworm of Edwards.

Fair Share of Obstacles

Since her Olympic debut at age 17, Vonn has faced her fair share of obstacles — including a recent broken arm — and persevered through them all. Now for the first time in “Strong is the New Beautiful,” she shares both her personal story and inspirational advice designed to empower and inspire women to “find their strong.”

Vonn hopes to motivate readers of all levels with her training routines, nutritional guidance as well as tips and tricks picked up from the pros, supported by cutting-edge science and the latest studies on health and exercise and illustrated with dozens of workout photos from her own collection.

“‘Strong is the New Beautiful’ is filled with all of the expert information and guidance you need to make the right choices for your life, whether you are an athlete, a fitness buff or someone who is hoping to get on the right track,” Vonn said. “My book teaches you how to get strong, stay strong and embrace your natural beauty. It is the perfect companion for living life to the fullest.”

Vonn is an Olympic gold medal-winning alpine ski racer and a member of the U.S. Ski Team. The most successful female skier in history, she holds four overall World Cup titles. She was also an NBC news correspondent during the 2014 Winter Olympics and is the founder of the Lindsey Vonn Foundation. She is currently training for the 2018 Winter Olympics, for which she has been named an International Games Ambassador.
