On the Hill: Friday’s Vail ski conditions report

Vail official report: 1″ new snow, 18″ mid mountain base, 34″ total to date
Vail Daily field report: 1″ new, lighter snow than yesterday
Liftline status: Large group gathered at Eagle Bahn and Chair 8 opening which dissipated as the group-transferred to Chair 2 in anticipation of that chair’s opening
Weather: Snowing again! Colder today, with the air much drier than yesterday
Breakdown: More snow coming down this morning with larger, fluffier flakes. Air is cold and crisp, today you’ll want the facemask to stay warm as opposed to yesterday when you needed it to stay dry. Avanti and Chair 2-was not yet open as of 9:10 a.m., but the lifties there said it was “almost ready” with ski patrol still getting things ready at the top. A large, excited-group began to form almost immediately.
