On the Hill: Friday’s Vail ski report with video
Vail official report: 0″
Line at Chair 8: There was no line whatsoever at 8:05 this morning when skiers and snowboarders started boarding the lift, but it’s sure to grow as the day goes on.
Weather: Sunny, without a cloud in the sky and no wind. The earlier start at Vail also meant colder temps on that first run, so if you’re getting out early but plan on staying into the afternoon, bring
Breakdown: Black Friday is more like Blackout Friday at Vail, with all resort employees, Epic Local and Merchant Pass holders forced to take the day off. Hopefully for the average guest and Epic Pass holder, this will cut down on lift lines and skier traffic today. Regardless, as yesterday’s Thanksgiving holiday proved, the earlier you get out, the more wait-free runs you’ll get on the day. Take advantage of the 8 a.m. start time again tomorrow (another blackout day) before operations revert back to their usual November 9 a.m. start on Sunday. Still no word on any new terrain opening, but the guns are a blowin’ on Columbine, and a predicted temperature dropoff expected for the coming days will allow those guns to spend more time in the “on” position.
Snowcast: NOAA says there’s a 20 percent chance of snow for Sunday night.
