On the Hill: Monday’s Vail ski report with video
Vail official report: 0″ new snow, 6 lifts and 4 runs open
Liftline status: Decent-sized crowd gathered at the Eagle Bahn gondola this morning, leaving no line whatsoever at Chair 8. Gondola line quickly mellowed out following the morning rush.
Weather: Warmer than yesterday, with no clouds or wind once again.
Breakdown: Today is the first day of the 2012-13 season where the gondola is providing for top-to-bottom skiing right from the first chair. Sunday, with Chair 8 starting an hour earlier, the early birds were gathered there. Today, the gondola shelter in Lionshead saw a large crowd of 50 or so waiting at 8:55 to get to the top early and enjoy the fresh groom on Columbine, leaving Chair 8 empty. Columbine is running fast and fun, but the earlier you attack it, the better as things get icy quick, which is to be expected for this time of the year. Be especially careful on the catwalk back to Lionshead after Columbine.
Snowcast: Patience is a virtue — we’re looking dry for the rest of November.
