On the Hill: Powder day at Vail
Brought to you by and the .Vail official report: 1″ new snowVail Daily field report: 4″ new snowWeather: SnowingLiftline status: Surprisingly uncrowded for a powder dayRun of the day: Zot was a great powder run that had no tracks at 9:15 a.m.Breakdown: With the highways a mess this morning (there was an accident in Dow Junction) coupled with the fact that Vail only reported 1″ at 5 a.m., today’s a great powder day for those out there to enjoy it. Crowds aren’t bad and the snow is wonderful. But it’s not bottomless powder, probably only 4 inches, so you’re likely going to scrape the bottom on your turns. For that reason, the runs that were groomed yesterday will be great today, as they had a smoother surface for the new snow to layer on top of.Snowcast: It’s supposed to continue on and off today and tomorrow, say forecasters
