Line at Chair 8: No wait to board the chair
Weather: Sunny with a few clouds and a chill in the air. No wind.
Breakdown: Day two of Vail’s 50th anniversary still saw crowds gathered at Chair 8 a half hour before opening, although the group wasn’t nearly as large as Friday’s opening day. With an inch of new snow that likely came after the resort’s official tally, local’s joked about this being the first powder day of the year.
“It’s a Vermont powder day,” David Berenson of Eagle-Vail said as he waited for first chair.
Snowcast: Keep your fingers crossed, NOAA says there’s a 20 percent chance of snow after 8 a.m. Sunday
