On the Hill video ski report: 2 inches of fresh snow at Vail
Vail official report: 2 inches overnight
Vail Daily field report: 2 inches wet snow
Liftline status: For a Snow Daze Saturday that saw a couple inches of new snow, it was surprisingly uncrowded at the Eagle Bahn at 8:30 a.m.-this morning,-but it’s getting busier by the minute It seems the weekend crowd has not yet-caught on to the new 8:30 a.m. start time.
Run of the day: The upper Riva Ridge-is now open, a run named after a battle Vail founder Pete Seibert and-the 10th Mountain Division soldiers fought in Italy in 1945. It’s the perfect run to enjoy on Vail’s 50 anniversary.
Weather: Lightly snowing, very cloudy with low visibility.
Breakdown: Two inches of fresh came down last night and layered nicely over the base that’s been packed down over these last few days by eager skiers at Vail. Over a surface that was groomed before it dropped, it feels incredible. The snow is wet and heavier than we’re used to seeing here in the Rockies, and there’s just enough of it out there that it really improves conditions all all the runs, even those that were pretty cruddy when it started to drop. A confident skier should be able to glide over most anything with ease this morning at Vail.
Snowcast: The snow persists! NOAA says more today, tomorrow and now it looks like some for Tuesday, as well.
