Vail official report: 0″ new snow, 0″ in last week

Weather: Partly cloudy

Liftline status: Nothing

Run of the day: Anything in Blue Sky Basin

Breakdown: It’s a glorious day at Vail, as the famed Blue Sky Basin has now opened for the 2013-14 season. It was an unexpected twist for many local snow riders, who weren’t expecting it to open until we received more snow. But the snow back there is soft and untracked, but it won’t stay that way for long. Get out and get some of it if you can.

Snowcast: The National Weather service is reporting there’s a chance 20-40 percent chance of snow for tonight, extending until Saturday
