One Night of Queen rocks out Beaver Creek
BEAVER CREEK — The music of Freddie Mercury is alive and well as Gary Mullen and The Works pay tribute to one of history’s greatest rock bands on Friday.
In 2000, Mullen won ITV’s “Stars in Their Eyes” live grand final with the largest number of votes ever received in the show’s history. The record of 864,838 votes was more than twice that of the runner up. He began touring on his own and in 2002 formed a band, The Works, to pay tribute to Queen.
Since May 2002, Mullen and The Works have performed throughout the U.K., U.S., Europe, South Africa and New Zealand to sell-out audiences. Their renditions of Queen staples including “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” will make the audience believe Freddie Mercury himself is onstage.
“Gary Mullen and his band The Works have a way of completely transporting audiences back in time to one of the greatest musical eras in history,” said Kris Sabel, executive director of the Vilar. “Queen was one of the most legendary rock bands in history, and we are really looking forward to this transformative evening.”
One Night of Queen will recreate the look, sound, pomp and showmanship of the legendary rock band.
