Open House in Wildridge seeks input on Trails

Daily Staff Report

AVON ” The Avon Town Council will hold a public Open House to review existing recreation trails in and around Avon, and will be collecting data to better understand use patterns of these trails by Avon Residents.

There are a number trails in the area, some of which have developed into a difficult management situation. The Town must identify which trails are worth preserving and which may need to be closed in order to create sustainable ‘system’ trails.

The National Forest Service non-motorized management plan just became available for public review and comment. The input from this Open House will help inform the United States Forest Service scoping process. Beth Boyst from the National Forest Service will also be available to answer questions during the meeting.

Town staff is seeking input from property owners and trail users in the form of a dot voting exercise and questionnaires.

The objective of this meeting is to receive input on trail use and to understand which trails are most important to Avon residents. The Open House will be held at the Wildridge Fire House from 3:30 to 5:30 PM on Tuesday, August 8.
