Ow! Vail mayor injured during clean-up
Daily Staff Writer
Vail Mayor Rod Slifer has been through any number of town cleanup days without incident. Until this year.
On Saturday, Slifer and fellow town council member Kim Ruotolo were picking up stuff along with numerous other town residents. The pair was working in the Pirate Ship Park area when Slifer tried to scamper across Mill Creek. He slipped, fell and broke his wrist and a bone in his arm.
The injury required surgery, but Slifer was back in his office Monday.
“I’m getting there,” Slifer said. “It’s a pretty fancy device I’m wearing.”
