The Motet headlines the second annual PardeePalooza, in honor of the late Tony Seibert, at State Bridge.

BOND — The second annual PardeePalooza returns to State Bridge Riverside Amphitheater in Bond Friday, Aug. 7, through Sunday, Aug. 9. Improvisational funk band The Motet will headline the four-day festival with two sets on Saturday night (Aug. 8); other big names include host band Eminence Ensemble, TAUK, the Jaden Carlson Band and Michael Travis (of String Cheese Incident acclaim) playing a special solo DJ set.

The event honors Tony Seibert, the grandson of one of the founders of Vail, who lost his life in an avalanche in January 2014. Pardee was Seibert's middle name, thus the event name. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Ted and Tony's Excellent Foundation for Avalanche Awareness, which Tony's mother, Teri, will launch in the near future, said event organizer Tanner Bardin.

'HIS NAME LIVES ON'

Bardin is the drummer for Eminence Ensemble, a progressive rock quartet from Boulder. He grew up skiing with Seibert and they attended college at the University of Colorado together. Seibert was among the band's first fans and a close friend of Bardin.

"Tony cared a lot about his friends; it was a huge portion of his life. (PardeePalooza) gives all these old and new friends a chance to get together and his name lives on," Bardin said. "It's a concert, but to some people it's more special and for the newcomers, hopefully they learn a little bit while they're at the festival. There's lots of skiers and riders present at the festival, and whether they knew Tony or not, it's important for people to know there are serious, serious dangers in the backcountry. The festival can help spread awareness."

This year's festival has expanded from two days to four and includes a lineup of nearly 20 bands, Bardin said.

"The Motet had a sold-out show at Red Rocks in June so we're pretty grateful to have them on board," he said. "We have some pretty high-powered touring artists on board this year to help the festival grow."

Camping is available at Rancho Del Rio for $30 for the weekend, which includes shuttle rides to and from the venue.

"We really encourage people to be safe this weekend; watch out for each other, be safe, be smart and especially no drinking and driving," Bardin said.
