BEAVER CREEK – The exclusively Colorado Micro Brewery Beer Tasting begins Saturday at 1 p.m. with Denver Post columnist Dick Kreck as host. The event is part of the Blues, Brews and Barbecue Festival.Now in its 11th year and benefiting the Vilar Center for the Arts, the Colorado Micro Brewery Beer Tasting offers 33 brewers pouring samples of their ales, lagers, stouts and porters. Presenting nearly 75 beers to sample, guests are provided a unique opportunity to discuss the beer one on one with the brewers. Additionally, two optional seminars, featuring eight different brew masters take place from 2-3 p.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. The “bluesy” tunes of The Harry Baxter Band, as well as food concessions, add to the festivities. Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa offers one and two night packages as follows:- $169 per room includes an overnight accommodation Friday or Saturday and admission for two to the Colorado Micro Brewery Beer Tasting on Saturday and two tasting mugs.- Two night packages are priced at $269. – Room packages are subject to availability and reservations may be made by calling 949-1234 or by visiting tickets for the Micro Brewery Beer Tasting are priced at $35 per person in advance and $40 on the day of the event. A designated driver program is available. The Brewers’ Association notes that Colorado is becoming a brewer’s capital, ranking second in the United States in beer production as well as the number of breweries. Coloradans are beer connoisseurs, said the association’s spokesperson, with the consumption of craft beers at 9-10 percent while the national average remains at 3 percent. Five of the top 50 crafted beers are made in Colorado. There are 30 packaging breweries and 56 brew pubs in Colorado.The Micro Brewery Beer Tasting launches the summer season in Beaver Creek Resort.
