Parker, Vail founders to be honored

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – Friends from around Colorado and beyond will come together Dec. 11 to honor Bob Parker, one of Vail’s founders, and others who worked with him in the early days of Vail and Beaver Creek.

Parker was Vail Associates first marketing vice president and is credited by many as “the man who put Vail on the map.” Parker now, 85, lives in Santa Fe.

The purpose of the tribute is not only to honor Vail visionaries, particularly Parker, but also to educate or remind people of how the Vail success story happened. The event will be held at the Lodge at Vail with a reception beginning at 5 p.m. followed by a dinner and program honoring Parker.
