‘Parlor Painters’ share love of art in Avon
Vail, CO Colorado
AVON, Colorado – The Parlor Painters, a local art group, is hosting an art show at the Avon Public Library community room during the month of September. A reception will be held Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the pubic is invited to come and meet the artists and view their work. Refreshments will be served.
The group, which was formed by Dana Dunbar about two years ago, includes seven Vail Valley residents. Dunbar provided the members with a studio in her home complete with work stations, a wet bar, flat screen TV and a lounge. Painting sessions are held every Tuesday night. Members bring their talents, materials and styles to the studio, as well as some food and beverage treats. The evenings are spent sharing notes on and techniques in oil, watercolor and acrylic painting.
“We are kindred spirits, all doing what we love, and have developed close friendships,” Dunbar said. “We all look forward to our Tuedsay night meetings.”
Membership is by invitation only as space becomes available, which has not yet happened.
“Our show at the Avon Library in September will let others, through observation, share in the wonderful world of art,” said member and spokesperson Bill Clinkenbeard.
