Partnership poised for future success
Vail, CO, Colorado
This is my debut at the Vail Valley Partnership.
I see many exciting opportunities ahead. I believe in the organization’s mission to enhance the Vail Valley experience for guests, employees and residents. As a former owner of my own business, Kurz McDonald Brand Development, I understand the daily concerns and issues a business owner is faced with. As a full-time Vail resident for six years, I understand the needs of those who live here year ’round, including the need for a sense of place or to feel part of a community.
Conversely, the time I spend on the town of Vail’s Planning and Environmental Commission has enlightened me to the community’s needs as well. Having worked more than 35 years in marketing and brand development, I’m attuned to the guests’ perceptions and components that contribute to building not only a destination’s image, but also a character that is true and genuine synchronized with the brand’s mission.
Combined, these factors illustrate why I’m excited to take on this new role. As the name suggests, the Vail Valley Partnership works in partnership with business and the community, including regional and State governments and councils, to be a resource and advocate for tourism.
Because tourism fuels economic development in our valley, the Partnership is dedicated more than ever before to grow current relationships and cultivate new ones in order to promote our destination and our lifestyle. The Vail Valley is a different place today than it was 10 years ago and will be a new and exceedingly vibrant place 10 years from now. It is the Partnership’s responsibility to help businesses thrive in the evolving economy and to be an ally to businesses of all sizes.
I’m thrilled to work with the enthusiastic staff of the Partnership to support businesses in this dynamic environment. Together, we can improve the elements that make our destination one that is desired across the globe as a vacation haven in addition to a place where many will want to live, work, play and thrive.
The weekend we have before us is traditionally a favorite of snow riders or those just looking to enjoy the extended holiday weekend in this high-country paradise. I wish all of you a safe and prosperous President’s weekend. May tradition make new tradition this season with numbers surpassing years past. As said by the great marketing-mind David Ogilvy, also known as the father of advertising, “Don’t bunt.
Aim out of the ballpark.”
In the coming months, I will do my best to meet with as many partners as possible ” encouraging and challenging all partners to be engaged with our efforts. If you’d like to meet with me in the immediate future, please take the opportunity to introduce yourself at next week’s monthly Business After Hours mixer hosted at the LIFT Flooring Studio. Tempting appetizers by Ti Amo will be provided, and I promise all and any introductions will be welcomed.
Michael Kurz is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Vail Valley Partnership.
