Partnership ready to put on the Ritz for business
Tonight the best in local business will shine at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch during the Vail Valley Partnerships fifth annual Gala and Vail Valley Success Awards. We all know the Vail Valley offers world-class ski terrain, but among our prized pockets of powder and World Cup course are world-class businesses. Thats what the Success Awards honor. This year, the Success Award categories include: Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Marketing Campaign of the Year, Green Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year and the already-announced Nonprofit of the Year, First Descents. First Descents uses whitewater kayaking and other outdoor adventure sports to promote emotional, psychological and physical healing for young adults with cancer. The Partnership is proud to announce that a portion of the nights proceeds will go to the First Descents experience.Tonights theme, Fire and Ice, couldnt be more appropriate to describe the business character of those honored. The businesses all are hot success stories for 2007 and are as sharp as ice when it comes to anticipating the next business trend and capitalizing on it. Also fiery hot are the nights live-auction lots, sold by auctioneer Lydia Fenet, vice president and director of special events for Christies Auction House of New York City. These lots literally will take you away. Guests will have the opportunity to say aloha to the Ritz-Carltons newly renovated resort in Kapalua, Hawaii. If youve recently visited Hawaii but still are yearning for a warm-weather retreat, you can get away to the RockResorts hot spot in St. Lucia or the JW Marriott in Tucson, Ariz. For those who crave mountains over the beach, a mountain giveaway featuring six prime mountain destinations including Lake Tahoe, Calif.; Telluride; Jackson Hole, Wyo.; Breckenridge and Snowmass/Aspen will be up for bidding. Looking for good ol southern charm? Then get your paddle ready when the trip to the Kessler property in Savannah, Ga, comes up for bid.Dont forget the gems we have in our backyard, showcased in The Best of Vail Valley auction lot. From a starry night on a horse-drawn sleigh ride at 4 Eagle Ranch to a round of golf at the Sonnenalp to a years worth of coffee from Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea Co. and more, this package will wow the friends and family you choose to share it with.Offering just as much awe as the aforementioned lots is the wonderful menu The Ritz-Carlton crafted specially for this celebration. Guests will enjoy a four-course dinner, accompanied by wine from Greg Norman California Estates. Finally, before dancing to the Hazel Miller Band, a champagne toast will offer a classic end to a classic evening. At the end of the night, we hope those attending will first and foremost remember the character of the business spirit celebrated and proudly leave knowing they are part of this character unique to the Vail Valley. The Partnership also will remember all of those people who generously helped make this night possible. Whether a donation of time, services or a sponsorship sincere thanks goes to all the entities involved in this event. Those unable to attend the gala may get a glimpse of the winners in Saturdays Vail Daily.
